Okay first things first. I'm from Los Angeles. I'm 31. And a solo female traveler. I'm on my way up to a biological conference in Snowbird, UT where I'll be giving a talk on my research. I've been in Utah for....Jesus Christ only 4 days and I think about about to fucking burst. Look, all I want is a bar to sit down at and have a drink and work on my thesis on my laptop. Why is this so hard to ask for!?!? Utah doesn't have any beers above 4% alcohol and to find a bar or place that serves hard liquor is a MIRACLE. HENCE THIS REVIEW.

THEY HAVE MARGARITAS! When I walked in I was shocked to see a Mexican place without a bar. SHOCKED. APPALLED. I'm of Mexican heritage myself and to know Mexican food be served without tequila made my soul cry a little. But alas, I was seated and opened the menu and they serve MARGARITAS! Sure they're small, but I'd call myself a "professional" drinker. This isn't my first rodeo so I can't complain. The point is is that THEY. HAVE. ALCOHOL.

Oh, the service was wonderful. Crap, I neglected to see the name of the person who served me. Let me look at my receipt. Maybe it's on there- Alejandra! Okay let's go with that. Alejandra. She was amazingly sweet! Shout out to that girl! You the best! Food was delicious. Had the crab enchiladas. I mean honestly, how do you fuck up mexican food? So yea, this place- BOMB. Solely because they have alcohol. Thank you.

Joe Vera's is located directly south of the Utah Valley Convention Center, making this an ideal location for lunch while in town for conference proceedings. The dining space is of decent size; however, it may still be wise to try and beat the meal rush by sneaking into the space before standard meal hours or before you know a conference session may be concluding. The staff are friendly, and the food is good. I wasn't particularly impressed with the dessert, but the entree was solid. The restaurant is surrounded by great shops and parks--all are within walking distance. AmEx is accepted.

My extended family likes to come here when we get together for dinner. I definitely wouldn't just pick to come here on my own, but when my family does choose to come here I am never disappointed.

Overall, this is just normal Mexican food to me. Nothing to write home about. It's pretty plain.

There were a few things that impressed me. When we do come, we usually have a group of about 20 and they do a great job of taking care of us. The servers were quick, attentive, and helpful. They serve chips and salsa while you wait and the salsa is bomb. Also, the portions are large so I had plenty to take home for leftovers!

This isn't the first place I'd recommend, but I don't think you'll be sad you came.

Poor front desk help - snotty - more worried about their own meals that we had to watch one eat...salsa good - chips fresh -
